The Best One-shots in the world?

If you people don’t know already, one-shots are the best kind of manga. They’re short (often only one chapter), concise (no complications and filler-free), and often the most awesome stories ever! There are hundreds of one-shots out there waiting for me to read, but for now, let’s just stick with introducing my favorites.

Here are my top five favorites from LEAST to MOST:

5. Shoujo Eve Ringo Jikake no 24 Ji  by Arina Tanemura

Every girl wants to be “kawaii”. Every girl except for Eve. Being the most kawaii girl in the school, she has weird boys chasing after her all the time and has no friends that are girls. While the word “kawaii” is what girls often hope to hear about themselves, Eve hates it so much she flinches whenever she hears it. Now she has to confess to her crush Niikawa, in hopes that he will return her feelings… that is, if the annoying class idol Kashii doesn’t spoil everything first!

This is a very cute manga about a kawaii girl’s misfortunes: a must-read!

Rating: 8.5/10

4. Umi no Chikyuugi Nocturne by Arina Tanemura

Kunitachi Nano is a junior high student, a popular model, and totally in LOVE with her teacher. But is that really why he finds her at school every night in her school uniform?

I VERY sweet romance between a teacher and a student, perfectly paced and paired with a touching story.

Rating: 9/10

3. Magic Shoe Shop by Mayu Sakai

This is a story about magic shoes and big dreams and romance! I don’t want to tell you the plot because I don’t want to give anything away. Just read it.

Rating: 9/10

2. Darling only you! by Seizuki Madoka

Yuzuki is in love with her brother (somebody yell “Brother Complex”). When her brother gets a girlfriend, she is crushed. However, on the way home from school, she meets a cool boy who looks exactly like her brother! What will happen next?

This is the cutest one shot I have ever read and I totally recommend this one. It’s got doppelgangers, jealousy, brother complex, sister complex and romance!!!!! A MUST-READ!!!! CUTEST MANGA EVERRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^

Rating: 10/10

1. Tsuki to Himawari by Tanaka Meca

Konno Mistuki, who is called a “cyborg” because she doesn’t show any expression, asks the school’s hottest (but most childish) guy Akai Asahi to go out with her for a month.

This may seem like a pretty normal manga storyline and all, but this has got to be the sweetest and most touching manga I have ever read. I may be a hardcore Arina Tanemura fan, but I’m not afraid to rank this oneshot higher than all of her oneshots (and she drew a LOT of them, all very good).

Rating: 20/10 <– this is not a typo

  1. I would recommend you read a one-volume manga called “Call Me Princess”….can’t remember who it’s by, but it is adorable. :)
